I affiliate to the Whakatohea Iwi (Tribe) in Aotearoa New Zealand. I am a founding member of Te Mana Raraunga Māori Data Sovereignty Network and the Global Indigenous Data Alliance which released the CARE Principles for Indigenous Data Governance. I am an Associate Professor at the University of Waikato and have recently been appointed as the Director of the Te Kotahi Research Institute.
